Jim's career journey began at a large law firm in Minneapolis, where he honed his legal skills representing private and public companies in mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, and emerging company matters. During this time, he also dedicated himself to pro bono work, providing legal representation to asylum seekers.

Transitioning into the financial sector, Jim served as Assistant General Counsel at a large institutional asset manager based in St. Paul, Minnesota. In this role, he played a pivotal part in overseeing legal and compliance matters, including the development of programs for service provider oversight, product development, regulatory filings, and compliance policy implementation. His responsibilities extended to managing outside counsel in litigation matters and conducting annual reviews of adviser and fund compliance policies and procedures.

Additionally, Jim collaborated closely with affiliated companies of the mid-sized adviser, particularly in the realms of software database technology, private real estate transactions, and other pooled investment vehicles, providing legal oversight and guidance to ensure compliance and mitigate risks associated with these ventures.

Jim holds a Juris Doctor from George Washington University Law School, where he distinguished himself as the Administrative Editor of The George Washington International Law Review. He earned his Bachelor of Sciences degree with a major in Finance from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
